WHY (AND HOW TO) NOTIFY YOUR BANK OF TRAVEL PLANS
MAY 9, 2024 | FRAUD PREVENTION
Summer is right around the corner and sun-soaked adventures beckon. There’s a lot to do before you set off on a trip: plan your itinerary, book flights, find hotels, pack your bags. Before you travel, it’s also important to submit a travel notice for your credit and debit cards.Financial institutions do what they can to protect you from fraud. When they see a transaction initiated in an unfamiliar location, your bank may assume your card is being used fraudulently and turn it off to protect your account.Don’t let a declined transaction ruin your vacation. When you submit a travel notice, your financial institution will authorize transactions that are within your travel destinations which would otherwise be suspicious and likely declined as potential fraud.
