SUMMARY

Directs and coordinates activities of branch of insurance agency by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Oversee the administration of the branch.

 

Provide training and assistance to customer service representatives regarding policies and procedures of the agency.

 

Communicate to the branch the expectations of the management of the agency and make sure that branch goals are being achieved.

 

Quote premiums on potential new policies.

 

Pay bill from vendors and to insurance companies.

 

Track the business written.

 

Interface with representatives of insurance companies and underwriters.

 

Help to coordinate advertising within the guidelines set by the Agency Manager.

 

Interface with customers over the telephone and in person.

 

Responsible for scheduling routine maintenance and coordinating janitorial services at their location.

 

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Maintain educational and professional expertise through attendance at job related seminars, conferences and workshops and involvement in professional, civic, and community groups in leadership positions.

Input new policies on computer system and prepare for delivery.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Office Manager will be responsible for supervising the customer service representatives, receptionist, and file clerk and evaluating their performance.  Responsibilities will also include assisting the Agency Manager in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school plus additional insurance training; or four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have state insurance license and fulfill requirements to maintain license as set by the state Department of Insurance.  Also obtain Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation or similar status.
